The aim of the architectural design is to provide confidence-building settings where patients, visitors as well as staff feel highly prioritised.
This hospital is the only hospital in Norway to offer private rooms with en-suite bathrooms for all patients and the majority of these enjoy the green view. Østfold Hospital brings four existing hospitals and psychiatric facilities under one roof and serves the south-eastern part of Norway as a part of the Norwegian Government’s strategic efforts to optimise and enhance the Norwegian hospital system. The hospital is designed to ensure optimum logistics and flexibility and close contact with the surrounding landscape, whose life-affirming influence supports patients’ recovery process. The hospital serves a population of 300,000 people in the region of Østfold and is one of the largest new-build projects in Norway.
