The new cooling and emergency power system at Horsens Hospital is an extension to building 7, and supports all of the cooling and emergency power needs for the wards in the freshly-built ‘Nye Nord’ wing.
This new building comprises both insulated and uninsulated sections, including a cooling unit and emergency power facilities. The facade, in a light grey shade with vertical wood cladding, creates a visual connection to the hospital's existing buildings.
Along with the visual integration, sustainability is a central part of the design. The facility uses advanced technology, including ammonia- and propane-based cooling systems, optimised for high energy efficiency. This ensures that the facility is not only functional, but also environmentally friendly.
Through close and detailed cooperation with the client and other involved parties, we helped to ensure that the project was carried out without any disruption to the hospital’s day-to-day operations.
